Why we invested in CO2 AI

CO2 AI is a system-of-record platform for carbon accounting and scenario planning that enables large enterprises to measure, reduce, and collaborate on their carbon footprints to achieve their net-zero targets. The CO2 AI platform collects granular activity from enterprises and automatically matches that data with over 110K+ emission factors in their database which is composed of public data, private subscriptions, and proprietary client data.

Because CO2 AI was incubated at BCG with unique enterprise data across industries, they’ve been able to optimize their platform to build the most accurate and actionable tool on the market. In addition to its unique dataset, CO2 AI signed a strategic partnership with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in 2022 to co-develop and strengthen their Product Ecosystem platform together. More than 18.7K companies have reported their emissions through CDP and more than 680 investors with over $130T in assets requested companies disclose through CDP on climate change and water security.

Through the CO2 AI platform, enterprises today can understand and map their current emissions across complex supply chains and simulate abatement initiatives to further reduce their emissions. Users can also map strategic planning scenarios against their emission reduction targets and easily share that data across their organization. Founder/CEO Charlotte Degot is a former managing director and partner at BCG’s group dedicated to data science and advanced analytics. Charlotte was named an MIT Under 35 Innovator for her work in data science and management. Florian Jourda is CO2 AI’s CTO and previously spent eight years at Box as their first software engineer and principal engineer.
