Why Unusual?

I’ve been fortunate to work with two dozen different VC and PE firms during my career, but after learning about Unusual’s mission, people, and our socially conscious LPs, I jumped at the chance to join a team of all MVPs and to support causes that matter.

What inspired you to join Unusual Ventures?

Unusual’s mission of integrity, honesty, diversity, and humility resonates strongly with my personal values.

What’s your best advice regarding accounting & finance operations for early-stage?

Outsource these functions in the beginning, but plan to bring them in-house when your business grows and demands more reporting and faster turnaround times. Spend the time up front to document your requirements and select the best vendors and software to meet your current & future needs; making changes later on will be costly.

What does your typical day look like?

First thing: I take care of the dogs, enjoy a Nespresso, and try to squeeze in a bike ride or walk before starting my work day. At work: I oversee accounting & finance operations, analyze and update our master portfolio models, produce reporting & dashboards for the C-suite, and drive the implementation of our new fund management platform.
