Jim Whitehurst

Jim Whitehurst is Board Partner at Unusual Ventures where he mentors founders and CEOs of growing enterprise software startups. Jim was formerly the President of IBM from 2020 to 2021, following IBM's acquisition of Red Hat, where he had been President and CEO since 2008. Under his leadership, Red Hat experienced significant growth, becoming a leading provider of open-source software solutions. Before joining Red Hat, Jim was Chief Operating Officer at Delta Air Lines, overseeing operations and leading the company through a financial turnaround. He began his career at The Boston Consulting Group, where he gained valuable experience in business strategy and operations. Jim holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Economics from Rice University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
